The purpose of psychological testing and assessment is to help provide information about an individual’s personality, behaviors, capabilities and/or limitations. There are various types of assessments provided. Intellectual Evaluations and Attention Defecit/Hyperactivity Disorder are among the most common. Intellectual Evaluations (often used to test for giftedness) are important in order to assess an individual’s intellectual functioning. This is helpful for parents and teachers to understand a child’s learning profile as well as a guide in finding the most appropriate academic setting to insure scholastic success. ADHD assessments evaluate the various cognitive domains to better understand if a child is struggling with attention, concentration, or other problems that may affect their ability to learn. Findings help the individual, parents, teachers, and mental health professionals to find the best plan of action to help the child function to the best of his or her ability.
