Raquel E. Suarez is a licensed mental health counselor with over a decade of clinical experience working with a varied population. Raquel is fully dedicated to helping her clients on their journey to lead happier and healthier lives. Tailoring her therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of each individual, she provides a warm and empathetic environment to support her clients as they work on their personal goals. Her Clinical specialties include: women’s issues, anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, marital counseling, and multi-cultural issues, as well as substantial training and experience working with victims of emotional and physical abuse. Raquel has also successfully treated clients who simply need additional support to manage life stressors such as relationship difficulties, sexual orientation issues, grief and loss, and stress management. She is bicultural and bilingual. With a master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University, Raquel began her clinical work facilitating psychotherapeutic groups and providing individual counseling. After relocating to Los Angeles, California, Raquel began providing therapy to children and families. Passionate about working with survivors of violence, she spent several years at the Children’s Institute International in downtown Los Angeles, where she provided intensive individual and group therapy to women and children victims of domestic violence. After relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, Raquel continued her work with domestic violence victims, providing court advocacy and crisis counseling. She also began actively working in the community to increase awareness of domestic violence issues by regularly granting print and television interviews and community presentations. In 2005, she created the ISVC (Immigrant Survivors of Violence Committee) which was designed to enhance the social services available to the Hispanic community in North Carolina. In addition to being fully licensed in Florida, Raquel was previously a licensed professional counselor in North Carolina, where she previously had a thriving private practice. Raquel also taught several psychology courses at Gaston Community College and Central Piedmont Community College in North Carolina. In 2009, Raquel returned to her hometown of Miami, FL and is looking forward to providing the utmost in quality and compassionate care to her clients in the South Florida community.
